The Census Consultation workshop for the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) is underway this week in Buka. The workshop focuses on the update of the Census Unit Register (CUR) and Maps which are key preparatory activities for the Census. Earlier this week, Acting Chief Secretary for the Autonomous Government of Bougainville (ABG) Mr. Thomas Raivat officially opened the workshop acknowledging the Census exercise as a significant undertaking for the region. Participants of the workshop comprised of 13 LLG Managers, the AROB Census Coordinator, representatives from the ABG Administration and technical staff from the National Statistical Office (NSO). The CUR and Mapping are key preparatory exercises to obtain a distinct picture of all Census units/boundaries in the region which will enable the census enumeration exercise come 12 of July next year.
