Port Moresby, 11 June 2019
The Research and Development Branch of the National Statistical Office has undergone a three-day questionnaire Review workshop in Port Mort Moresby last week.
The workshop was held from the 5th to the 7th of June outside Port Moresby.
The primary aim of the workshop was to conduct a collective review on the development of the Census 2020 Questionnaire.
2020 Census Director Bernard Kiele in his closing remarks described the workshop as one of the important workshops in preparation for the census.
“Census Questionnaire is the most important instrument in all of census. Everything is targeted towards having a proper questionnaire to collect all the essential information.
The questionnaire itself must be very easy to use, easy to understand, must be accurate, must not be ambiguous , it must collect the right information it is targeted to collect,” said Mr. Kiele.
The questionnaire review workshop is the led up to other training and workshop of master trainers that NSO will carry out at the provincial level.
Mr. Kiele further states that all the instrument like the field operation and other instruments used are specifically targeted to ensure that the census questionnaire is correctly administered, and information or data collected is accurate.
Mr. Kiele also acknowledged the presence of the 25 participants who attended the workshop.
“Your input in the development of these questionnaire cannot be underestimated, unlike the past where a questionnaire has been developed by a few individuals in the office. Now we are ensuring that the Census Questionnaire is developed by involving everyone’s proper input and suggestion,” said Mr. Kiele.
