The 2020 Census Provincial Consultation Workshops are being slowly rolled out into provinces. The Provincial Census consultation for Western Highlands Province began last week and is continuing this week in the Province. This follows the first two provincial census consultation workshops conducted last month (Central Province and the National Capital District). Officially opened by the Provincial Administrator Mr. Joseph Neng last week, the workshop focused on the update of the Census Unit Register (CUR) and Maps which are key preparatory activities for the Census. Participants of the workshop comprised of Census Coordinators, LLG Managers and relevant stakeholders and staff from the National Statistical Office (NSO). Part of the program was a field visit, where the participants identified and updated urban Census Unit boundaries. The CUR and Mapping are key preparatory exercises to obtain a distinct picture of all Census units/boundaries in the province which will enhance the census enumeration exercise come 12 of July next year.
